lyrics

The Full Moon Disco

It was Halloween, 1984, I was walking home from the pub with me mate Baz.
It was dark and we were both really, really drunk.
I'd had some food and so had Baz but, he said he was still hungry.

He said, “look, wait for me here by Easy Lanes. I'm just going to go back and get some more chips”. “Alright” I said, “but it's pretty dark “.
“Don't worry” said Baz, “there's a moon coming up, a full moon”.
So, Baz buggered off and left me there, all alone.

I thought to myself, I can just walk home, I don't need Baz, he'll be alright.
Then all of a sudden, I heard a-creeping and a-crawling behind me.
A sound like, an animal, with heavy breathing, sshuh, haah, sshuh, haah.
I started feeling spooked, what if it was a fox or a rabid dog?

Anyway, I started walking home, slow at first, but I could hear the noise behind me, following. Following me, down Easy Lane, down the back of Market Street.
It was pitch black and and I could smell something, something bestial, a pungent odour hung in the air, I walked quicker. I heard something behind, me, it was moving fast, tracking me, I started to run, I could hear it as it came up right behind me. I got to end of the street, the full moon, was glowing.

I was about to cry for help, something grabbed me by the shoulder and spun me round. It said “don't call for help, you and me, we're gonna have ourselves a dance”.

I looked and I couldn't believe my eyes. It was Baz. My friend Baz, he hadn't gone for chips, no. He'd turned into a werewolf.

“Baz, you're a werewolf”.

“I know Euan. Don't worry, I'm not going to eat you”.

“Well you'd better not Baz, we've been pals for ages!”.

“I wouldn't eat you, I wouldn't eat you mate, don't worry, but I do want to dance, under this full moon”.

1, 2 ,3, let's go, oh yes. So we span, we moved, we danced, we grooved, we twirled, we spirled, he flipped me, got down, a spin, and back, a shimmy and we danced like this all night long. Well, for about twenty minutes.

And I said “Baz, I've got to go home, I've gotta work tomorrow morning. See you again next week?”.

“Aye, see you next week” and off Baz went, padding away.

I did hear about some terrible murders that happened later that night, and I did wonder, was that Baz? I suppose it was.
